« on: June 13, 2010, 05:20:13 AM »
HI,

I have a SA-4500, and I am trying to configure Avaya softphone to work through WSAM but it hasnt worked yet. So my question is obvious. is it posible to make this working? and do you know how?.

You probably should use Network Connect (NC) as oppose to using WSAM.

Is there some reason you need/want to use WSAM?

I'm using NC with about a dozen agents and it's working very well... we get the occasional issue/complaint but those problems can usually be attributed to the users broadband Internet connection.

Good Luck!

HI thank for answering.

I want to use WSAM instead of NC because I already have some application working with  WSAM and the only one that is missing to work with, is Avaya softphone. So that is why I would like to know how to do it.

Do you know if it is possible?

It might be possible but "I" wouldn't attempt it.

It's much easier to use Network Connect and you'll have far fewer issues.

I use WSAM for the vast majority of my users (600 users) while I use Network Connect for about 50 users. I place these users in a different User Role where I enable NC instead of WSAM and then just setup the split-tunneling such that they can reach all the IP hosts they need to communicate with. There's no messing around with applications and/or ports.

I'm guessing but some of the TCP/UDP ports used by the 2050 are probably dynamic which can be painful to get working in a WSAM configuration.

Good Luck!

Ok, good idea, so let me try with NC. But I have another question. Do I have to configure the same pool address for my NC users which access other applications and of course also the softphone in the Avaya media gateway?

Unless you're going to get fancy you should create the IP pool from the same Layer3 network that the SA-4500 is connected to internally. I just recently tried to use my local DHCP server but I had issues and had to resort back to an IP address pool from the SA-4500 itself.

Good Luck!

Thanks for your help. I finally made it working fine. I just needed to add another IP segment in resources.

I checked the logs, that is how I realized which segment.

Thanks.
