Snow is gone. Whats up for summer?
« on: April 05, 2010, 11:42:07 PM »
So, now that the Snow seems to have passed for this year, whats up for the spring/summer? Anyone have big plans?

I'm back at the gym getting my cardio and legs back in shape for some hiking/backpacking/camping. At least I got to stay busy shoveling a sh*t load of snow! It looks like it's going to be a busy outdoors season for me. I'm so excited I need to share!

So far I've go the following lined up.

Surf fishing and hanging at the beach. Perfect for day trips but the family has a house a block off the beach.
White water kayaking trip down in West Virginia.
Trip to Colorado during memorial day week/end. (Denver and Rocky Mountain National Park)
Guys long weekend in the George Washing National Forest.
Long weekend with the wife backpacking in the Adirondacks.
Many day hikes and maybe even overnight camping trips around PA. Ricketts Glen especially.
Some concert/camping events in Hershey PA.
~5 day backing trip at the end of summer in Shenandoah Nation Park.
I'm also hoping to get in some mountain biking if I can find the parts to fix my bike.

We're doing all this to prepare for a much larger trips next year. A 7-14 day trip rafting down the Grand Canyon or 7-14 day backpacking through Yosemite National Park and Grand Tetons National Park. How well the wife does this summer will depend on which trip we take next summer and for how long...

WOW.. great Plans! You must have some vacation time saved up!

I'm training for the Vermont City Marthon which held on memorial day weekend. This will be my 2nd marthon, hopefully I won't hit the wall as hard as I did on the first one.

I also just started to get into cycling with the hope of eventually doing ironman in the future.

We also have our home on the market. We're planning on getting a home with some acerage (10+) and a lower mortgage.   (wish us luck) :)

It's already 80 degrees here just outside Philadelphia... way hot way too fast for me.

I spent the afternoon dropping the plow off the tractor and mounting the mower deck so I could mow the lawn this evening for the first time this season. The grass was already so tall I had to mow it twice in a cross-cut fashion to help mulch up all the grass clippings.

I hope to make a trip to Michigan to see in the in-laws later this summer but other than a few day trips there won't be a whole lot of traveling for this family.

I'll be migrating a data center from the Philadelphia suburbs to Philadelphia... it's going to be a real challenge even leveraging virtualization.

@TheKingSlacker, good luck selling your current home!

@modestgeek great thread +1 rep!
