Bluecoat Filename capture
« on: October 28, 2011, 05:54:49 AM »
Hi everyone,
Do you think it's possible to capture from Bluecoat logs file names of files uploaded to webservers...or bluecoat logs only show header information and not client-webserver transaction details?
Any help is appreciated.

Hi Tarkan and welcome to the forums!

If you are logging on the full URL then any parameters that are part of the URL will be logged.

Cheers!

Hey! Thanks for the welcome and prompt response :)

So, if the web-server, to which the file is being uploaded, is configured in a way to avoid file-names being displayed in url then it is not possible. Is my understanding correct?

Yes, that's correct... the Blue Coat will only log the URL, it won't long the contents of the HTML itself.

You can write CPL to "control" the contents but I'm not sure if you can specifically log them. I would encourage you to check out the Blue Coat forums, http://forums.bluecoat.com/, there are a lot of people really knowledgeable about the ProxySG over there.

Good Luck!
